• Tailored Support Initiatives
Through our DIGA initiatives, we help HRDs understand the challenges and opportunities of the Digital Security trends, and support them through their own change processes.
The impact of digital technology on society has fundamentally altered the expectations, interactions, and consumption patterns of our HRDs. As a result, these HRDs must engage in fundamental transformation if they are to remain relevant in this increasingly competitive and constantly changing digital safety environment.
The DIGA aims to help HRDs understand and implement the process of restructuring and transforming their organizations to a digital safety environment along the way. Every HRDs faces different challenges and opportunities, which is why the DIGA draws together expertise from across the Nation and other foreign/international digital security expert and partners to address HRDs needs from a multidisciplinary perspective. DIGA provides expertise, knowledge exchange, and tailored support services.
The goal of the DIGA Tailored Support Initiatives is to:
- Provide on\-site consultancy sessions and/or remotely when the HRDs are in critical digital Security Situation to counter / mitigate urgent digital security needs and thereafter conducts a follow\-up periodic session to see the progress of the mitigation / Specific tailored intervention conducted.
- Provide services, strategies and recommendations that address digital safety needs.
- Support HRDs to understand their digital rights and capabilities to deal with digital safety challenges for positive change and sustainability.
- Create a hub of digital safety empowerment and transformation knowledge.
- Short on\-site workshops to create awareness about digital security issues.
- A short peer\-to\-peer assessment (1\-3 days\' tops) of HRDs (Individual or Organization) on digital safety maturity and capability for digital safety transformation by focusing HRD\'s digital security strategy, and plan to address the priority areas.

- Incident Emergency response (Online Support / Call Centre)
DIGA is working to expand the operations of the Digital Safety awareness and consultancy sessions helpline and enhance its digital security capacity to provide support to human rights defenders and general public online. The project specifically increases the numbers of hours and personnel available at the helpline—something that is necessary given the huge influx of demand.
This type of support is important because digital spaces are increasingly coming under attack in the EA region. These trends are serious impediments to digital safety and internet freedoms and the work performed by the HRDs. In Tanzania, many activists are targeted specifically on the basis of their speech in online spaces. Because a significant portion of helpline engagement face problems concerning hacked devices and accounts, a dedicated digital security expert for the helpline is being added as well.
