Hands\-on Digital Security Capacity Building
After a broad experience in digital safety field, DIGA has discovered that Digital Security challenges can be better addressed and mitigated through empowering HRDs to utilize digital technologies and innovative digital security practices as well as be informed about the legal framework that is in place to hinder their daily work routines. In addition, lack of knowledge and experience with the enormous variety of digital security knowledge and tools creates confusion and lack of uptake of the most useful technologies which could contribute to the realization of HRDs and/or organizations' daily work mandates.

Objective of the Capacity Building:

General:
The capacity building programmes have the general objective of upgrading Cyber Security skills and knowledge within HRDs communities enabling innovations in their daily work / practices in communications, documentation, mapping, data analysis, advocacy, and equipment's / working tools digital safety.

Specific:

  • Improved digital security posture and practices for the HRDs and their respective organizations.

  • Improve digital security infrastructures (esp. software) for the HRDs and the respective organizations.



DIGA Developed strategy:

The Strategy for for this programme is to Conduct basic to advanced level training emphasis heavily on digital safety and hold sensitization workshops on available technologies and lastly is to also to seek to protect individuals and groups by preventing violations from occurring, especially for those facing particular risks, ensuring accountability for violations that have occurred, and empowering HRDs to protect themselves.

Before conducting these trainings, DIGA develops tailored curriculum for the targeted audiences where several topics and subtopics will be covered from Introduction to Legal frameworks hindering the freedom of expression, Digital Security topics such as Computer basic security, Information Management, Mobile Security, online resources like the Panic Button and also Digital security tools and Resources are shared to the trainees on every capacity building session.

Our capacity building initiative is tailored towards imparting knowledge and skills to enhance the operational and technical capacity of HRDs in the area of digital security and two more complimentary components of internet freedoms, and cyber laws laws too.
Basing on the fact that a concept of protection and promotion of the digital rights and Digital Safety trainings of the HRDs is new in Tanzania, it is important that well-designed capacity building sessions be availed to these HRDs.

Through this program, DIGA envisages for the Non-vulnerable and Self-Safeguarded Community of Human Rights Defenders.
